The Things that Matter

Dear Glow & Grace Community,
Welcome to the second edition of The Glow Letter.
I'm so grateful you're here.
In July’s edition we discussed new beginnings but this month has reminded me that growth isn't always about starting something new. Sometimes, growth looks like seeing things more clearly. Seeing what matters to you. Seeing which relationships deserve your time and energy. Seeing where you've outgrown something. Seeing that change can be uncomfortable and still be exactly what you need.
This month has carried a mixture of emotions. There have been moments of disappointment, moments where I've had to process changes in relationships, and moments where I've had to remind myself that resilience doesn't mean you aren't affected by things. It means you learn how to move through them.
I've been reminded that life doesn't always unfold according to the plans we make. Careers change, relationships evolve, doors close, new ones open before we are quite ready for them. And honestly, some of that can feel scary. But I've also realised that difficult seasons can reveal something important:
What we truly Value
For me, one of those things has been relationships:
Spending time with the people I love.
Being present. Making memories.
Having conversations that don't need a purpose.
Appreciating the people who make life feel full.
As women, we can become so focused on becoming becoming successful, confident, independent, accomplished that we sometimes forget to ask ourselves
What kind of life am I actually trying to build?
Because success isn't only about what we achieve.
It's also about who we have beside us,
how we feel when we come home,
the relationships we nurture and the memories we create along the way.
So this month's Glow Letter is an invitation to pause and look a little deeper.
Not at everything that went wrong.
But reflect on what this season is teaching you.
With grace,

This Month's Reflection
August has been a reminder that not every season is comfortable, but every season can teach us something. There are moments in life when things don't go the way we hoped.
A relationship may disappoint us.
A plan may change.
A career decision may leave us questioning what's next.
Something we thought would stay the same may suddenly look very different.
And when those things happen, it's natural to feel unsettled. But disappointment can also bring clarity. Sometimes it shows us what we value. Sometimes it shows us where our boundaries need to be stronger. Sometimes it shows us who we can rely on. And sometimes it simply reminds us that we are capable of handling more than we thought.
This month, instead of asking yourself only "What went wrong?", try asking:
What is this season revealing to me?
● Perhaps its revealing what you want more of ?
● Perhaps its showing you what you need to let go of ?
● Perhaps its encouraging you to make a change you’ve been avoiding?
You don't need to have everything figured out to be resilient. Sometimes resilience is simply choosing to continue.
Reflection Questions
Take ten quiet minutes this week and reflect honestly on the following:
What has this month taught me about myself?
What has disappointed me, and what can I learn from it?
Which relationships currently bring peace, support and joy into my life?
Am I giving enough time and attention to the people who matter to me?
Where in my life am I resisting change because I'm afraid of what comes next?
What have I handled this month that I didn't think I could?
What do I need more of in the next season of my life?
What do I need less of?
Don't worry about making your answers sound positive. Reflection isn't about finding the perfect answer. It's about being honest enough to hear yourself.
A reminder about relationships
One of the biggest reminders for me this month has been the importance of being intentional with the people we love.
Life can become so busy, and sometimes the people who matter most receive the leftover pieces of our time. I've been thinking about creating my own Quarterly Connection Afternoon with friends inspired by an idea I came across online. Every few months, after our own Sunday reset and reflection, we meet for an afternoon of good food, phones away and meaningful conversation. We could talk about
what we're grateful for,
our favourite memories,
what we're working towards
the memories we want to create next.
I love the idea of creating intentional moments to simply be present with the people we love.
It's also something I see through the accountability circle I've created, where we check in with one another, encourage each other's goals and hold each other accountable to the things we've said we want for ourselves.
Because sometimes, community isn't just about having people around you. It's about having people who see you, support you and want to see you grow.
So this month:
Put the phone down.
Make the plans.
Check in with your people.
And tell someone you love them.
Don't always assume they know.
Sometimes the strongest relationships are built through small, consistent acts of care.
Grace for the Month
Proverbs 3:5–6
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight."
Change can be uncomfortable because we often want certainty before we move. We want to know where the next opportunity will lead. We want to know whether the decision we're making is the right one. We want reassurance that everything will work out. But sometimes faith asks us to move before we have all the answers. If you're entering a season of change: personally, professionally or emotionally, give yourself permission not to have everything figured out yet.
You can be uncertain and still have faith.
This Month's Intention
Choose what matters
This month, be intentional about where you place your energy. Not everything deserves your attention. Not every disappointment needs a response. Not every opportunity needs to be accepted. And not every change needs to be feared. Choose the people who matter. Choose your peace. Choose the life you're actually trying to build.
This Month's Challenge
This month, choose three people who are important to you.
They could be family members, friends, mentors or someone who has supported you through a difficult season. Then do something intentional.
Send the message.
Make the phone call.
Plan the coffee.
Invite them for dinner.
Tell them you appreciate them.
Or simply spend some uninterrupted time together.
The challenge isn't to do something impressive. It's to be present. And if you're feeling brave, tell someone what they mean to you. We often assume people know. Sometimes it's worth saying it anyway.
